Teen therapy

The teenage or adolescent years can be filled with difficulties and worries, and therapy may be needed to provide teens with a space to express their feelings and learn coping skills to help manage their problems.

Common reasons for teens to seek therapy include:
* Low self-esteem
* Anxiety
* Depression
* Eating disorders
* Self-injury

As each teen is quite different, so different therapy approaches are needed for individuals in this age group. Some teens enjoy talking therapy, in a similar way to adults. For other teens, using art or listening to music can be an important way of expressing themselves. As a result, I incorporate all these different approaches with teens, depending on their needs.

My work with teens involves an initial assessment of where a teen is at, and what would work for her or him. Therapy is then undertaken, and parents or guardians are given updates on progress.
