Play Therapy

Play therapy is specifically for children up to the age of around 12, and involves using toys, games and activities to help to alleviate children’s distress, as well as improving confidence and self-esteem. At my practice, I see children from ages 9 to 12 for play therapy, and use teen therapy techniques for those aged 13 and above.

Play therapy allows children to express and explore their problems using a drawings, art, toys and other games. In the safe space of therapy, children enjoy and benefit from learning to express themselves and putting their problems into words.

Play therapy with children can be a slow process, as it is of vital importance to allow each child to progress at their own pace. However, parental feedback is provided on a regular basis.
